Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1-2 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, finely minced
  • 1 tsp adobo sauce (from can)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 tsp honey (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Finely mince 1 to 2 chipotle peppers from adobo sauce depending on your desired spice level.
  • In a medium bowl, combine sour cream and mayonnaise. Whisk until smooth and fully combined.
  • Add minced chipotle peppers, adobo sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, lime juice, salt, and black pepper. Mix until evenly blended.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes to allow flavors to meld and deepen.

Notes

Adjust the heat by using 1 chipotle pepper for mild flavor or 2 for extra spice. For a lighter version, substitute Greek yogurt for part or all of the mayonnaise. Chill at least 20 minutes before serving to let the smoky flavors develop fully. This dip pairs especially well with fries, tacos, grilled meats, and roasted vegetables.
