Ingredients
  

  • 2 tsp ceremonial-grade matcha powder
  • 120 ml hot water (175°F / 80°C)
  • 1 tbsp honey or sugar (optional)
  • 2 large scoops pistachio gelato or ice cream
  • 2 tbsp Irish cream liqueur
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped pistachios
  • white chocolate shavings (optional)
  • light dusting of matcha powder

Instructions
 

  • Sift the matcha powder into a bowl to remove clumps. Add the hot water and whisk vigorously in a zigzag motion until frothy. Sweeten lightly with honey or sugar if desired.
  • Place one large scoop of pistachio gelato into each serving glass. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of Irish cream liqueur over each scoop.
  • Pour the hot matcha evenly over each scoop to create the affogato effect. The gelato will melt into a creamy, vibrant green swirl.
  • Top with chopped pistachios, white chocolate shavings, and a light dusting of matcha powder. Serve immediately with a spoon.

Notes

Use high-quality ceremonial matcha for the best color and smooth flavor. Warm the serving glasses slightly to allow the gelato to melt gradually. For a stronger and creamier variation, replace part of the water with hot milk for a matcha latte-style pour. To make it non-alcoholic, substitute Irish cream with vanilla cream and a drop of almond extract. For a vegan version, use dairy-free gelato and plant milk. Best enjoyed immediately for the perfect hot-and-cold contrast.
