Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • fork or blender
  • knife
  • spoon or spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 2 tbsp sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a bowl. Make sure the avocado is ripe for a creamy texture.
  • Mash the avocado with a fork for a chunkier dip or blend it for a smoother texture.
  • Add sour cream or Greek yogurt, lime juice, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and fully combined.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Chill for 10–15 minutes for best flavor before serving.

Notes

Use ripe avocados for the creamiest texture. Adjust lime juice gradually to avoid overpowering the flavor. To prevent browning, add extra lime juice and press plastic wrap directly onto the surface before storing. For variations, try adding garlic, cilantro, chili flakes, or cumin. Swap sour cream for Greek yogurt or a plant-based yogurt to make it dairy-free or vegan. Best enjoyed fresh within 1–2 days.
